There are several reasons for youth alcoholism. The first reason is the impact on young people in the social environment, the so-called micro-society. They are influenced by their parents, friends, media, culture, and attitudes towards alcohol in the country. The influence of parents with alcoholism for a young person is important and measured in many aspects. Young people are influenced by how their parents feel about alcohol, how they drink, and the parenting process. To prevent alcohol behavior among young people, parents need to explain its harm to the individual, to the body, and in the worst-case scenario, how to look for a “rehab near me”.

Also, young people are influenced by their company, friends. In most cases, young people tend to communicate in more adult companies, considering themselves in this case more mature and advanced. Any friends and company are beneficial to the young person as a person, except if they contradict the person's values and beliefs, pushing him to commit negative actions. It's good if the teenager is lucky and he ends up in a company where alcohol consumption is condemned.

Another reason for alcoholism among young people is the peculiarities of their age, the difficulties they face and which they incorrectly solve with the help of alcohol.

Despite the fact that the psychological effect of alcohol on individuals is quite different, almost all young people who are familiar with its action confirm the effect of relaxation, fun, etc. In most cases, this is a psychological suggestion to oneself. Alcohol helps to relax, to act more courageously - another reason for drinking.

Medical students were at increased risk: according to a study at the Mayo Clinic, they are more prone to alcohol abuse than their peers in other educational institutions.

Although it would seem - detailed knowledge of the risks associated with alcohol and drug use, understanding the severity of the consequences and the additional moral burden in the eyes of the public should become deterrents. But the exorbitant severity of the daily hours of work, constant stress and a huge responsibility for the most precious thing - the life and health of people who have trusted you - lead to the fact that suicidal moods and abuse of alcohol and psychotropic substances among doctors are very widespread.

Researchers from the Mayo Clinic managed to prove a disappointing fact: not only professionally held doctors, but also medical students are at increased risk. An aggravating circumstance and a trigger for the development of addiction can be youth and the need to pay off student loans. It is the sum of these factors - academic workload, young age and debt that can lead to a rapid burnout of a student and the questions “where should I look for drug rehabs near me?”.

The findings of the study were published in the journal of academic medicine. Mayo Clinic MD, physician and lead author, Lieselotte Durby, believes the study's findings are very significant cause for concern. “Eliminating the problem requires a comprehensive, multi-vector solution that addresses burnout, the cost of medical education, and alcohol abuse.”

During the study, 12,500 medical students were examined at the Mayo Clinic. One-third responded and approximately 1400 people in this subgroup had clinical problems with alcohol abuse. That's a lot - 33%. If we make a general comparison with the results of other national studies, the risk of sliding into alcohol dependence among non-medical students is only 16%.

Burnout factors or feelings of depersonalization among medical students have been highly associated with alcohol abuse. But in parallel with this, during the study, three other factors were identified that, regardless of alcohol dependence, affect the degree of emotional burnout:

- a younger age of the student;

- lack of marriage;

- and the presence of debt (credit) for education.

The scientists failed to identify statistically significant differences between the age of medical schools or between students of different sexes.

The researchers say that the average cost of medical education in the United States from 1995 to 2014 increased by 209% at private colleges, and by 286% at public schools. This means that the amount owed by the graduate doctor in 2014 was $ 180,000.

The Mayo Clinic is one of the largest private medical centers in the world. Dr. William Worrell Mayo (1819-1911) was assigned to Rochester in 1863. In 1889, after 25 years of medical practice, he opened a clinic with donations from the convent of St. Francis, grateful for his help in eliminating the consequences of the devastating hurricane.

As of 2012, the Mayo Clinic is an exemplary medical center. It employs 50.9 thousand people, among them 3800 doctors and scientists. The annual revenue of the clinic in 2013, according to Forbes, was $ 3.74 billion. The hospital has a prestigious medical school.

Conclusion

Thus, the main reasons for drinking alcohol as a student are holidays, support for the company, and raising the mood. Most students know that alcohol is harmful to health and the most significant risk factors for them are body poisoning, liver disease, alcohol dependence, escape from reality, memory impairment.

It is very important to control your mental health, control your emotions, and think positively. A healthy psyche will support you in a state of well-being, in which you can realize your own potential. A barrier to the emergence of a desire for alcoholic beverages is the formation of an internal cultural core of the personality, its moral values and a constant need for work or study.
