Students are required to enroll in a minimum of 12 units for the spring semester. Of those 12 units, 9 of those units should be through the Oxford program.

Courses Offered

ENG 27A: Introduction to the Novel with Professor Jennifer Hedgecock: Students will read a variety of novels tied to the cities visited throughout the program. Having published both books and articles on literary criticism, Dr. Hedgecock has carefully selected novels that are set in England so that students can analyze how the environment transforms the lives of protagonists that they will study. Students will have the chance to walk the same streets as the characters whom they've studied.

NOTE: Students may take 27A for Honors credit.

ENG 18: Shakespeare's Tragedies with Professor Jennifer Hedgecock: What would a trip to England be without a chance to look deeper into the plays of Shakespeare? Beyond Shakespeare's plays, students will be able to explore The Globe Theater in London with a chance to see one of Shakespeare's plays performed in the same environment experienced by his contemporaries.

HUM 1 (online) with Dr. Pete Murray: Dr. Murray has tailored his HUM 1 class specifically for the Oxford experience. The course is full semester with the first 8 weeks devoted to theories and overviews and the second 8 weeks devoted to group-based projects in Oxford. These projects ask students to immerse themselves in their Oxford experience and to think it through using the full tools of the Humanities: philosophy, literature, music, and art.

NOTE: Those students who have already taken HUM 1 are still eligible for the program.

ADDITIONAL COURSES: Beyond the 9 units offered through the program, students can enroll in any online classes they choose to complete those 12 units. Students may also enroll in any first 8-week courses needed.
